I can’t remember where I first read about the Obelisk, but I was instantly determined to find out more. Bettys (their only fault is ditching the apostrophe) produce delicious goodies and I am lucky enough to have a branch five minutes walk away.

By coincidence Hawley House is currently for sale, being offered by both Knight Frank and Strutt & Parker. Their PDFs can be downloaded and aficionados of historical architecure – yes, those into property porn – can ogle to their delight. It’s not a large house; the asking price is £5,750,000. The proximity of both the M3 and Blackbushe airport might make it noisy.
