Good evening Digby. Great to hear that the Earsham pavilion influenced the one at Sledmete. I was initially trying to tell the story of the Portmeirion connection, but I’m pleased to have your thoughts and I am hoping to carry out further research.

It was pleasant to re-visit the Earsham Music Room in your post, 20 years or so after Sir Tatton Sykes and I visited it when seeking inspiration for the interior of the orangery we were re-constructing at Sledmere. Thank you for another very interesting post.
Sadly the Grade II listed Werneth Park Music Rooms, Oldham, Lancashire, built by Charles Platt c.1850 are in a poor state:

Hello Julia. As ever when I publish a story, I do so in the hope that someone out there knows more and can add to the story, so thanks for your thoughts. I love the anecdote about Sir John - thanks for sharing.

So lovely that this little delight is reunited with the house. I wonder if the portrait medallion in the pediment is a muse and if the façade is c.1750 - c.1770?
Sir John Smith, founder of The Landmark Trust, was very fond of the shapely plaster lady in the ceiling of The Music Room at Lancaster.
Thank you very much FF.

The temporary chatelaine of just one beautiful Music Room was delighted to have the company of the flaneuse and her companion.
