On the grounds of Hex Castle (Limburg province, Belgium), there is a pavilion-shaped tomb for “Venus,” the English bay mare of the Prince-Bishop of Liège, Velbruck.

In reply to Editor. So pleased to read this about Farley’s Mount. Born & spent early years in the area, as a family we often went for picnics to the area. Just loved it. Now 45 years in Wales so really must make the effort to go this spring/summer. Thanks again.

Also seems unlikely anyone else would have had the resources, desire, and occasion to be photographed at the monument in 1870, the same year Sir Heathcote restored it.

Seems likely to me that the “elegant tophatted gentleman” in the photograph would be none other than the man who restored it: THE RT HON. SIR WILLIAM HEATHCOTE BARONET
