Hello Valerie. It’s certainly a situation where you can’t please everyone, as opinions have differed so much over the years. Sadly the argument is barely worth having now, as the stones have eroded so badly.

I visited Shobden a few years ago on a Romanesque churchcrawl, it’s so sad that they were left outside to be weathered away. I think they would have been better off in Hereford cathedral.

A purely academic situation, of course.
