Fascinating post, Peckover is definitely on my bucket list as I often by pass Wishbech on my way to Norfolk but have never called in. And I agree, definitely a Coco de mer which ties in with the exotic theme. I do hope one day you will be able to compile all your brilliant research into a beautiful book.

I first visited Peckover in the early ’80’s and this summerhouse was exactly as it is now – no sign of the table. Through the gate to the left is another garden and another alcove. This one is a ‘classical temple’ where the four pillars are painted tree trunks with their bark still on. It has a similar, very elegant, curved seat. Both seats are grained. There is a third, thatched summerhouse hidden in a shrubbery. It is a lovely garden.
