Hello Stephanie. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. It seems to be known as both Blacko Tower and Stansfield Tower (and occasionally Jonathan’s Tower). Part of me would like to know the truth, but another part loves all the legends and mystery!

Growing up in Nelson, we always referred to it as, “Blacko Tower”, so it is very intriguing to learn its proper name! A family friend tells me that his understanding was that Stansfield built the tower in order to be able to see across to where his girlfriend lived in the next valley. Another legend to add to the list!
