There's more on why Pevsner took to the English road in this radio programme, available for a year plus, perhaps in perpetuity, at

I can add some more to this list. But I don’t want to sit and talk about them, I assume you meant we should sit down and drink them?

I think we need to sit down and seriously discuss folly wines. I have had a bottle of Lake's Folly (Hunter Valley, Oz) when I was young, slim and rich, but it's now £40 a bottle, minimum order one case, at the winery, tax and shipping on top. There's Villa Zapû (Napa Valley, CA), and I had a bottle of McCaig's Folly Scotch whiskt which I suspect was just a label smacked on a bottle of Grant's.

You can hear Pevsner talking about Englishness on YouTube

Not quite the same as hearing him in person, but fascinating to hear Pevsner, a native speaker of German, speaking in impeccable English with a slight trace of accent, about Englishness.

Your kind words are very much appreciated John. It was a delight to visit Maud in my first proper post-lockdown jaunt. The walk from Bremhill church across the fields to the monument is lovely. The causeway is a delight too, and the little church. I’d love to have heard Pevsner speak, I’m pleased you had that opportunity.
