[…] Great weather for this year’s Longwood Sing (resumed post-plague, and now in its 149th year) on 11/09/2022. Most of the crowd (me included) saw no need to wear black today. Golcar Band kicked things off with an instrumental of what sounded like All People That on Earth do Dwell. Things continued with All Things Bright and Beautiful, which was my cue to leave (religion’s not my thing). Interesting to see this wonderful space being used – it’s Huddersfield’s version of the Minack Theatre, but with views of the Colne Valley instead of the sea. There are lots of historic photos online of the amphitheatre, adjacent tower, and past Longwood Sing events, as well as interesting articles including: https://thefollyflaneuse.com/longwood-tower-huddersfield-west-yorkshire-a-stump-and-a-thump/. There’s a photo somewhere which I can’t now find, but I’m pretty sure he was wearing his trusty Mac!
