In reply to John Malaiperuman. Hello John. I was fascinated by this monument, which was completely new to me. I’m also a fan of the Lighthouse, which I admire whenever I (regularly) approach Kings Cross. I don’t remember the advertisements so I would love to see your photo, thanks.

I was very interested to learn about the King’s Cross monument to George IV that stood in front of the building known as the Lighthouse Block. i have always liked the Lighthouse Block and remember when it was covered in colourful advertisements. (I can send you a photo I took in 1967 if you are interested), It looks a bit sterile now that it has been cleaned up.

Fascinating stuff as always, Flân (may I call you Flân?) I am very sorry to have been beaten to the Horsmonden Tower by the Royal Engineers because it always fascinated me — I know of no other tower narrower at the base than at the top.
